Some Fun Things to Celebrate in November

on November 3, 2014

November – it’s not just for Thanksgiving. OK, it really is for giving thanks, as you have many tasty reasons to be thankful this month.  These are my favorites.  Head over to The Nibble for the complete list.

First, some month-long observances (aka, indulge freely)

  • Georgia Pecan Month
  • National Peanut Butter Lover’s Month
  • National Pepper Month
  • National Pomegranate Month

And now, the daily delights…

  • November 3: National Sandwich Day (um, makes me want to sing the sandwich song)
  • November 4: National Candy Day (Reese’s PBC, thank you)
  • November 5: National Doughnut Day (again? Not complaining. Can’t have too many doughnut days)
  • November 6: National Nachos Day
  • November 7: Bittersweet Chocolate with Almonds Day
  • November 8: National Cappuccino Day (I’m more of a (no-foam) latte girl, myself)
  • November 9: National Scrapple Day (Blech – don’t know why I left it here)
  • November 9: Cook Something Bold & Pungent Day
  • November 10: National Vanilla Cupcake Day
  • November 11: National Sundae Day (My Mother’s favorite was CMP)
  • November 12: National Pizza With Everything Day (Except Anchovies)
  • November 14: National Guacamole Day (meh – I’ll leave it here, but meh)
  • November 14: National Pickle Day
  • November 15: National Raisin Bran Cereal Day (Does this belong with the preachiness?)
  • November 16: National Fast Food Day (we may have to play with polls again)
  • November 17: National Baklava Day
  • November 17: Homemade Bread Day
  • November 18: National Vichyssoise Day (served hot, it’s Pottage Parmentier)
  • November 19: Carbonated Beverage with Caffeine Day (you know…)
  • November 21: Gingerbread Day
  • November 22: National Cashew Day
  • November 23: National Espresso Day (Le Swoon)
  • November 23: Eat a Cranberry Day (or add it to a pie or something)
  • November 25: National Parfait Day
  • November 26: National Cake Day
  • November 28: National French Toast Day
  • November 29: Chocolates Day
  • November 29: National Lemon Creme Pie Day (shouldn’t this be a summer thing?)
  • November 30: National Mousse Day

Some Boozy Observances

  • November 8: National Harvey Wallbanger Day
  • November 20: Beaujolais Nouveau Day

Dishonorable mention for Killjoy Preachiness

    Maeve,
Here is a human doing good work. All the talk about food made me think of it.

Thanks for the reminder on the upcoming Nouveau!

And yeah, Raisin Bran Day belongs in the “dishonorable mention”, I think.

I think my favorite from this list is National Nacho day.

      I know!
I made buffalo chicken nachos for Iseult’s birthday bash (because teenagers consume heaps and heaps of food) and they were a huge hit. Actually, it was Mrs. C over at The Sincere Gift who gave me the suggestion. I also made a huge tray of taco nachos. Huge baking sheets. Both completely devoured.

I’m sort of looking to make “Smores nachos” – you know – line a baking sheet with separated graham crackers and add milk chocolate chips and mini marshmallows and throw under the broiler for a minute or so…

OK – I gotta stop here.

  4. Cake Day is everyday! 🙂
