Wannabe Martha

Still trying to figure out which Martha

With Love to my Mother

on May 23, 2014

Isn’t she lovely? She smelled of Arpège and wore “Fire and Ice” lipstick. She baked the best apple pie and blueberry muffins and she cooked the worst hamburgers. She was fiercely devoted to her family and she loved my father with everything she had (her words, not mine). She was the wisest, most compassionate woman I’ve ever known and I feel privileged to be her daughter.
Happy Birthday Mother.

I lost my Mom back in’79. You never get over it.
Happy bear video appropriate to the theme.

Fuzzie I need for animal planet to do one of those “Too Cute” shows with baby bears (we’re stupidly addicted to the Too Cute Puppies here Chez Maeve)

      • FuzzieWuzzie says:

I can see why they do puppies. Dogs can live in the house. I wouldn’t recommend having bears live in anyone’s house. So, they live in the forest.

Beautiful tribute, Maeve. You’re very blessed to still have her. My husband echoes Fuzzie Wuzzie’s sentiments when discussing his own mother.

    Love the photo.

    • Maeve says:

Oh Elspeth, I dearly wish she was still here. I’ve missed her wise counsel so much these past few years. I love the photo too; it was taken shortly before she got married. I wish I had her grace and serenity – but I’m working on it – never too late, you know. 🙂
